Choosing art for your home can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. I’ve been painting artwork for my own home since I was little, and over the years I’ve definitely learned through plenty of trial and error. Now, having this platform to share my finished and polished artwork fills me with so much joy — so let me help you choose the right colourful wall art for your space.

Adding artwork to your home is such a simple detail, but it can completely transform a room. Prints and decor bring personality, warmth, and style into your space, making it feel lived-in and truly yours.

The Mood Of The Room

Every room in your home has an atmosphere — calm, cosy, playful, bold, or minimal. It’s important that your artwork matches that energy. For example, in the kitchen you might want pieces that reflect warmth, creativity and nourishment. My three matching lemon prints come to mind here; they were designed to add freshness and character to spaces where you gather, cook and create.

I usually design when inspiration strikes. I’m drawn to minimal, simple artwork with an edgy feel, and if I can sneak in a pop of colour… I always will.

Work With (Not Against) Your Colour Palette

When choosing prints, you don’t have to match everything in your room perfectly — just look for pieces that complement your existing colours and patterns. Sometimes contrast is exactly what a room needs. Opposing colours can create a striking focal point and become a fun conversation starter when guests visit.

Artwork can be the missing piece among your cushions, throws and rugs — the element that finally brings everything together.

Size and Orientation

Before choosing your print, consider the wall space you’re working with. A small print can disappear on a large wall, while a big, bold print can become the centrepiece of the room. Also think about portrait vs. landscape orientation — both can change the feel of a room depending on the layout.

Many of my prints also fit beautifully within a gallery wall, working alongside photos, illustrations, or other designs.

Choose What Makes You Feel Something

Your home should reflect you — your style, your memories, your creativity. Choose prints that make you smile, spark inspiration, or brighten your day. If there’s a print you keep coming back to, trust that feeling.

My own artwork at home actually became the inspiration for many of the prints I now sell. Some pieces date back ten years, and as my skills grew, I found ways to refine and reimagine them into what you see in my shop today.

Where My Prints Work Best

Every print in my shop can be styled in different rooms, but when I create them, I always visualise where they might shine:

Ideal for kitchens or hallways. The stripes add a fresh, uplifting feeling to the space.

Perfect seasonal additions to your Christmas decor. They sit beautifully as accents or in a festive gallery wall.

Absolutely a bathroom print. It brings humour and personality to a room that’s often overlooked.

And remember, there’s no need to fill an entire wall all at once. Start with one piece and let your collection grow naturally.

My own “painting wall” grows with my creativity — every time inspiration hits, I paint something new, let it dry, then hang it proudly before turning it into a print to share with you.

Art Is Personal - Trust Your Taste

Art should make your home feel more like you. Trust your instincts, experiment with colours and sizes, and most importantly, enjoy the process.
